- Business Opportunities Weblog discusses JiffPad—a new iPad app that lets physicians communicate health issues visually and digitally—which can give patients the ability to access essential information from home, following an appointment.
- As reported by Modern Healthcare, data concerning financial relationships between healthcare providers and medical device and drug manufacturers was made public this week via the federal government’s Open Payments website.
- The American Academy of Family Physicians declares its support for the Primary Care Physician Re-entry Act, a bill drafted to ease the provider shortage by helping primary care physicians who have had a prolonged period of clinical inactivity return to practice.
- “CMS set the bar for Stage 2 very high, and didn’t follow guidance from the field about what is doable in setting the Stage 2 rules,” says Chantal Worzala, director of policy for the American Hospital Association. According to Hospitals & Health Networks Daily, Worzala and other hospital leaders maintain it will be too difficult for many facilities to meet electronic health record meaningful use requirements in the time allotted.
