To better determine American consumers’ behaviors with regard to online health services, Parks Associates surveyed heads of US households during the fourth quarter of last year. Here’s a glimpse at what the Dallas, Texas-based market research and consulting company learned from broadband consumers’ responses, as shared in a recent Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry news story:
- Health and wellness—and in all probability, weight loss—is top of mind for many, as 38 percent of the respondents indicated they searched health or nutrition information online through an app at least once in the past year.
- Twenty-seven percent of consumers surveyed said they used a website or an app provided by a healthcare professional or health insurance company.
- Twenty-five percent of the respondents claimed to have used a smartphone or tablet app to engage in health goals or manage a health condition.
The upshot, as reported by HIT Consultant is consumers are becoming more active in their healthcare services, which will, in turn, better help physicians assist patients in sticking to their care regimens. Additional findings are illustrated in the Parks Associates infographic, “How Have Consumers Used Online Health Services in the Past 12 Months?”
