Smartly, several of the country’s busiest airports have accounted for the unexpected by providing various medical services beyond first aid, offering everything from urgent care to X-rays. As PeterGreenberg.com points out, more serious health concerns may require treatment at a nearby hospital.

If you’re currently working locum tenens, this information could be beneficial if you find yourself in need of medical care en route to or on the way home from an assignment. What’s more, you may want to make patients who are frequent flyers aware of such services. Here, we’ve compiled a list of some of the busiest airports in the nation and the medical services you can expect to find onsite.

  1. O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
    The O’Hare Urgent Care Clinic is located in Terminal 2 on the ticketing level, next to the Travelers Aid office. Affiliated with the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Science System, the clinic accepts most insurance for a number of services, such as diagnostic X-rays, health screenings, EKG testing, immunizations, audiometry and tympanometry, and physical therapy. During flu season, travelers can visit the clinic, or kiosk locations in Terminals 1, 2, and 3 for flu shots. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

  2. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
    The airport has partnered with Reliant Immediate Care Medical Group, Inc., to offer the LAX Medical Clinic, located just outside of the airport at 9601 South Sepulveda Boulevard. The clinic offers travel immunizations, an onsite pharmacy, and urgent medical care. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  3. San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
    The SFO Medical Clinic provides travel medicine, urgent care, immigration physicals, and occupational health services. Located in Terminal Main Hall on Boarding Area A side, the clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  4. McCarran International Airport (LAS)
    McCarran Med+cal provides services to airport employees and travelers, including vaccinations, screening tests, basic medical care, and a pharmacy. Most major insurances are accepted. The clinic is located in Terminal 1 Esplanade, Level 2, and is open Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The pharmacy is closed Wednesday and Saturday.
  5. Nashville International Airport (BNA)
    The CareHere! Walk-in Clinic and Wellness Store offers primary care, illness care, medical symptom treatment, and chiropractic care, as well as an in-store pharmacy and over-the-counter medicines. The clinic is located in Concourse C and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
