Locum Tenens Spotlight: Dr. Arturo Perez

Dr. Arturo Perez

Dr. Arturo Perez was looking for a change. His two daughters were grown, and he and his wife wanted new experiences together. He found Weatherby Healthcare after doing a search for locum tenens companies and has been happy with his choice.

Finding the right staffing agency

“I’ve been impressed with Weatherby’s quick response and their respect for me and professionalism,” the family practice physician says. “I’ve had a great experience with my consultant, Dennis. He’s very responsible and answers all of my inquiries. Weatherby is in charge of facilities and travel, and they make assignments go smoothly.”

With six months of locum tenens jobs under his belt, Dr. Perez continues to be excited about the career alternative and the new opportunities he can enjoy.

Traveling at any stage of your career

“If you want to have an adventure in your career, locum tenens is the way you can accomplish it. You can travel with your family or wait until your kids are independent,” Dr. Perez says. “I love traveling, meeting new people and doing something different.”

One of the biggest lessons Dr. Perez has learned from working locum tenens is the importance of achieving a better balance between work and home life.

Making time for yourself

“Since taking locum tenens assignments, I have more time for me. It’s helped me learn that medicine and treating patients is not the only thing in life,” he says. “Locum tenens can bring other adventures and help me in my career.”

Trying something new

Dr. Perez says he’s continually recommending locum tenens to other physicians as a change of pace.

“If you’re willing to have new experiences, consider locum tenens as a new career. Otherwise, you’re heading to the same hospital and just going to work and to your house every day,” he expresses. “The more I love my job, the more I love my family — and my practice has been easier. I feel the world has become smaller.”
