HealtheCareers recently partnered with Locumstory on an infographic about the importance of shift work and how it could help alleviate both the physician and nurse shortage. Here are a few of the points discussed.

  • Only 20 percent of graduating medical professionals will enter primary care, which means that by 2025 there will be 31,100 too few primary care physicians
  • Demand for healthcare professionals doubled in 2014, thanks in part to an increasing population with health insurance because of the Affordable Care Act
  • More than 3 million Americans take work in addition to their full-time jobs, and that number could increase to 7.6 million in 2020. Many of these workers are medical professionals who can help provide to care to those in need
