Locums tenens has become a fixture of today’s healthcare landscape. Facilities around the country rely on locums providers to help meet their staffing needs, especially in rural or underserved areas.

Every year, Weatherby Healthcare recognizes a few of these outstanding physicians, based on their excellence in their specialties and as locum tenens providers. Nominated by the Weatherby consultants who work with them every day, the winners are selected based on:

  • Their passion for locum tenens
  • The quality of care they provide
  • Their service — both professionally and personally — to the communities where they work and live

According to Weatherby Healthcare President Bill Heller, “Each of the physicians who won this year’s award are exceptional. They really exemplify what great healthcare is all about — compassion, skill, and a commitment to excellence. These are the qualities our clients value most in the locums physicians we send them.”

Dr. William L. Barrett

Dr. William L. Barrett, General Surgery

Dr. Barrett began his 25-year career as a general surgeon doing contract work on Indian reservations in Arizona and Oklahoma. Dr. John Hennessee

Dr. Julie Long

Dr. Julie Long, Pediatric General Surgery

Dr. Long finds that locum tenens allows her more freedom to apply her surgical skills to help those in underserved areas.
