Don’t Mind the Wait: Awesome Airport Amenities

Some airports across the country are offering such amenities and more to keep travelers relaxed and happy. If you find yourself with extra time en route to your next locum tenens assignment, consider indulging in one of the following all-frills travel perks.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL)
Minute Suites give travelers a serene, private place to work, nap, and relax. Located in Concourse B, each suite is outfitted with a daybed, bedding, an alarm clock, TV/computer combination, Wi-Fi, desk and office chair, and a noise-reducing sound system. Suites have a one-hour minimum, starting at $34 per hour. The overnight flat rate (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) is $125. XpresSpa offers a variety of spa services, including massages, manicures, pedicures, facials, and hair services. Terminals A and C each have an XpresSpa location. Open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Walk-ins and reservations welcome. Prices vary.

The Club at ATL is a quiet lounge perfect for unwinding and working while waiting for a flight. Located in Concourse F, The Club offers Wi-Fi access, work stations and dataports, free snacks and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), TVs, newspapers and magazines, and shower facilities. Day passes are $35 per person. Open from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Burlington International (BTV)
Located on the second floor, Evolution Yoga offers a tranquil space for calming yoga practice. A family bathroom and shower are also available. Complimentary.

The Mamava Lactation Station gives nursing mothers a safe, clean, private space in the gate area. The free-standing pod features a fold-down table, dual seating, power outlet, locking door, soft lighting, and space for a stroller and luggage. Complimentary.

Green Roof is a beautiful, roof-top garden over the parking garage that offers incredible, scenic Vermont views. Lighted pathways and benches make the space a great spot for getting fresh air and rest before or in between flights. Complimentary.

Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW)
Minute Suites aren’t exclusive to Atlanta. Located in Terminal D, this location is the only one to feature showers. Suites have a one-hour minimum, starting at $34 per hour. The DFW Airport Walking Path stretches from Gate D6 to D10, and is aligned with the DFX Art program floor medallions. Endorsed by the American Heart Association, the path measures seven-tenths of a mile, and gives travelers a healthy, low-impact exercise option while waiting for a flight.

Terminal D Theaters has ten large screens playing CNN, TBS, and Turner Classic Movies. Relax in comfortable media chairs, each of which has a headphone jack for use with your personal headphones.

XpresSpa has two Terminal D locations in Dallas/Fort Worth International, as well as in 17 other US airports. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Services and prices vary by location.

The Club at DFW is owned and operated by the same company as The Club at ATL. Similarly, the lounge offers free beverages, snacks, Wi-Fi, TVs, and workstations. Located in Terminal D. Day Passes are $35.

Philadelphia International (PHL)
Minute Suites also has a location here, in the Terminal A-B Link. Nearly three times larger than the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International location, this airport features 13 private suites and two workstation cubicles. Make a reservation online or by calling (215) 937-1076

San Francisco International (SFO)
The Berman Reflection Room is located in the International Terminal Main Hall.
Open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., this amenity offers a quiet reflection and meditation space prior to going through security. No cost.

There are four XpresSpa locations throughout SFO; one in Terminal 2, two in Terminal 3, and one in the International Terminal. Open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Walk-ins and reservations welcome. Prices vary.

Yoga Room is a space devoted to relaxation, self-reflection, and practicing yoga, and it is the first of its kind at an airport. Located in Terminal 2, the facility is open around the clock and use is complimentary.
